James S. Hollander – Managing Director

A seasoned merger and acquisition advisor, James Hollander has over 29 years of M&A experience in both the investment banking and corporate arenas. He has completed buy-side and sell-side transactions ranging from $250,000 to $3 billion.

With his corporate and investment banking experience, Mr. Hollander understands the challenges a company faces when buying or selling a business. He understands how acquisitions and divestitures correlate to the company’s strategic plan. As a result of his tenure in the market, relationships have been established with prospective buyers and sellers and with other intermediaries throughout North America.

Prior to establishing CDA, Mr. Hollander worked as Director of Corporate Development for a public company that served the automotive components and plumbing products market. During that time, he was responsible for acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic planning. He has also worked at investment banking firms where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, private placements, and valuations.

Mr. Hollander holds an MBA degree from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, and a BS degree from Drake University.

Michael Hollander currently works at a leading Chicago-based private equity firm. He has also worked at Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, a large successful private equity firm located in New York. In addition, he has also worked for Fremont Partners a private equity firm in San Francisco, and at Salomon Smith Barney’s in its M&A and Healthcare Investment Banking Groups.

Mr. Hollander graduated with distinction from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with BSE degrees in finance and accounting and was a recipient of the Sol Feinstone award.

Tom Amato currently presides as CFO of Pillar of Fire International, a Christian ministry with involvement in churches, schools, healthcare facilities, and radio stations.   Mr. Amato has also served as CFO of three publicly-traded companies over a period of 20 years, including Symbol Technologies from 1990 to 1997. After leaving Symbol, Tom served as CFO of Dialogic Corporation and ultimately negotiated the sale of the company to Intel. More recently he served as CFO for two VC-backed telecommunications equipment start-ups (Tachion Networks & Wavesmith Networks).  He serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee and a Director of Intersections, Inc., which completed a successful IPO in April, 2004.

Mr. Amato holds an AB in Economics from Princeton and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania
